It’s February in New Jersey, and the lawn is snow covered and there’s ice on the driveway. It’s a good time to get your taxes in order, and, after you had your fill of that fun (ha, ha), maybe a bit of shopping if your budget allows. Here’s a list of items which are traditionally priced the lowest during February:
Broadway tickets – Turn outs that February is a slow month in general for NYC tourism and the slowest month for Broadway ticket sales.
Canned goods – February is National Canned Food month (who knew?), so it’s a great time to stock up on any canned goods you would normally use.
Video games – The new titles are coming out for the summer months when children are out of school, so you should be able to grab a recent hit at a reduced price.
Consumer Electronics – Cameras, TVs, cell phones, audio equipment – TVs go on sale around the Super Bowl, cell phone carriers usually offer Valentine’s Day 2 for 1 sales, and the Consumer Electronics Show is held in January so in anticipation of the new models, the older models go on sale.
Winter Coats and Clothing – Not that this is a surprise, but the spring clothing lines are hitting the stores, and the stores want to get rid of the winter merchandise.
Exercise equipment – The New Year’s resolution purchases are winding down, so waiting the extra month is slimming for your wallet.
Furniture – The lowest prices usually are during President’s week sales.
Each month generally brings a special sale to entice you into the stores. If you’re interested in learning what the best deals are by the month, consider reading “Buy Ketchup in May and Fly at Noon” or “Buy Shoes on Wednesday and Tweet at 4:00” by Mark Di Vincenzo.
